The NEC Betas were built in the mid-1980's entirely by NEC (Nippon Electric Company, the "G.E." of Japan); some of them had unique features such as using the LED hi-fi meters to show optimum tracking.  The only NEC SuperBeta unit, the VC-N65EU, was the only non-Sony Beta to record in B-Is!
